Tengan is the old, tired mayor of Ashihara Village. He can be pompous and egotistical, but more observant animals have noticed a certain air about him, almost beleaguered...haunted.

ABOUT
Tengan turned up in Ashihara Village on the very day that the mayor at the time had died. For as long as anyone could remember, mayors had always been tanukis...but there was nobody suitable to take the place of the previous mayor. Convinced that Tengan's arrival was a sign, he was immediately instated as leader. Tengan seemed to take well to his new role - if he had reservations, he didn't make them known - and appointed Toro as his deputy mayor once he came of age. In fact, Tengan fit so well into his position that previously hidden facets of his personality have surfaced. He seems to very much enjoy being in a position of power.

Ever since, Tengan has remained as the mayor of Ashihara, but over the years, more observant animals have noticed changes in his behaviour. Jumping at the smallest of things before collecting himself like nothing happened, snapping at others for the slightest of reasons...something is amiss, despite Tengan's assurances that everything is fine.
