As someone who works in areas of the village that most animals would rather forget about, Kawako has always been a rough and ready type. He is of the belief that if something has to be done, it's worth doing well, especially if it's a job nobody else will do. There's nothing that Kawako hates more than those who would rather let things sit and fester. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty, and also won't refrain from saying things that need to be said - even if they're harsh truths. It's hard to get along with him because of this.

Although he is considered an outsider for the way he acts, Kawako embraces this. He doesn't care what others think of him, and believes that they shouldn't care what he thinks of them either. Though, his lone wolf mindset will be challenged on the journey ahead, and Kawako will have to learn to work with others.
